This year in Mrs. O’Dell’s seventh grade English classes, the focus was on
reading. Almost 100% of the students rose to the challenge of earning the coveted
Wallace is for Readers Award. To earn the award, students had to read seven
grade-level novels and complete a project for each book. Students read from a
variety of genres and completed a range of projects. For example, after reading a
book about a specific place, students designed a travel brochure for that place
using Canva. Other projects included character analysis, a lost dog poster, a book
jacket, and a cereal box book report to name a few. Additionally, students
presented their work to their peers, and their work was put on display to inspire
others who were looking for a good book to read. Congratulations to all those
students who devoted their time and energy to achieve this worthwhile
accomplishment!
