The WMS girls basketball team beat VMS in their semifinal game 40-11. WMS advances to the finals on Monday, December 22 @ 7 PM vs. E.B. Stanley. The game will be played at Virginia High School.
We want to give a special thank you to everyone who helped support our students and families this holiday season. Thanks to businesses, organizations, clubs, and individuals in our community we were able to distribute Christmas presents to 50 students as well as hand out 40 large food boxes. This will help ensure all of our students have a great Christmas and full bellies during our Winter Break.

The Wallace Middle School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will compete in the Highlands Athletic Conference semifinals on Saturday, December 20, at Virginia High School. The game schedule is as follows:
12:30 PM: #1 Wallace Middle vs. #4 Virginia Middle (Girls)

As an end-of-year review activity, students in Mr. Stinson’s 7th-grade life science class revisited key life science concepts by dissecting owl pellets.
The middle school basketball game scheduled for Thursday, December 18, has been relocated from John S. Battle High School to Wallace Middle School.

Most roads are clear and dry and we had hoped that more secondary roads would improve throughout the day. However, there are several areas in every part of the county that still have roads that are ice covered.
WCPS Offices will open at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
Childcare will be available beginning at 10:00a.m. Please watch for additional information from your child’s elementary school. Be safe and stay warm!

The Christmas concert scheduled for today, December 14, has been canceled.
📢SCHEDULE UPDATE: Due to winter weather and poor road conditions across the county, WCPS will be CLOSED today, Friday, December 12, 2025. Childcare will NOT provided at elementary schools.
📢SCHEDULE CHANGE: Weather models show that we will receive more snow overnight, especially on the eastern side of the county. As a result, WCPS will operate on a 2-hour delayed schedule tomorrow, Friday, December 12, 2025. If an adjustment needs to be made to the schedule in the morning, we will do so by 7:30 a.m. Childcare for elementary students will be provided at elementary schools (for elementary aged students only) for working families who need it. Please watch for additional information from your child’s elementary school.
Beginning next week, Washington County Public Schools will implement a new procedure requiring elementary and middle school students to leave their Chromebooks at school during extended breaks. Students should leave their Chromebooks and chargers in their homeroom classrooms on Thursday, December 18. Please note that on Friday, December 19, there will be a two-hour early dismissal for Christmas Break.

The home basketball game on Tuesday, December 2 vs Union has been canceled.
Students that are interested in auditioning for Frozen tomorrow evening at Battle for our high school production will need to register using the QR code found on the flyer attached. If they have questions, they can email Ms. Alderman at malderman@wcs.k12.va.us.
